False-positives for cars with no plate

The car detector is designed to be high recall and low precision. High recall and low precision means you’ll get more false-positives than false-negatives. Having false-positives for car detection isn’t an issue as we can use the plate detection and OCR scores as filter. Having to deal with false-positive cars may be an issue when the car has no plate. For cars without plate we recommend using the VMMR and VBSR classification scores as filter. Check the Javascript code at https://www.doubango.org/webapps/alpr/ for more information on how to filter cars with no plate.

Configuration entry to enable returning cars with no plate: car_noplate_detect_enabled.

In the coming versions we’ll improve the detector’s accuracy.
